Bathroom and Kitchen Tile Cleaning Tips

tile-cleaning-tips

Tile floors are a great option for bathrooms and kitchens, providing a durable and attractive flooring that is well-suited for these high-trafficked areas. However, the grout between the tiles can often gather dirt and grime, and cleaning it can be a challenge. Likewise, the tile itself can sometimes be stained or scratched if not cared for properly. Here are a few tips from the experts at ServiceMaster of Buncombe County for how to clean your tile floors:

  1. Remove the Dirt
  2. In caring for tile floors, you will want to sweep and/or vacuum a few times a week. Dirt can scratch and dull your tile, so be sure to remove it frequently and don’t let it build up.

  3. Use a Chamois Mop
  4. Sponge mops aren’t good for tile floors because they push the dirty water into your tile’s grout rather than cleaning it up. Instead, use a chamois mop or even a rag. Mix together a mild detergent with hot water to mop with, and change the water-detergent mixture out as soon as it starts becoming cloudy.

  5. Keep The Grout Clean
  6. To keep your grout clean, you will want to use a commercial grout cleaner, though you can also use mild bleach if you prefer. Spray the grout with grout cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub the grout with a toothbrush or other small brush.

Maintaining your tile floors can be a challenge. If the damage is extensive, cleaning them on your own may not be an option. Find out how the experts at ServiceMaster of Buncombe County can help you keep your tile floors beautiful and clean. Contact us today!
